יָלַד the stress also falls on the final syllable, but the vowel in that instance (לַד) is traditionally classified as ‘short’. It may, however, be more accurate to describe the vowel as ‘long patah’, but for our purposes, it may, for the time being, be thought of as ‘short’, even though it is in the accented syllable.
